- Light thinks 'I am the lamp', or knows 'I am Light'. -

Being and the Sense of Being

march 22, 2011

The sense of being - here - means the primary knowledge of being present. This is the undiluted awareness, which realizes to be there. This direct sensing is always new and timeless.

Onto this unwritten realizing, much confusion gathered. Consciousness learns to identify with the body. This can be a physical body, but also an emotion, mental, astral, ethereal, or energy-body. There seems to be an imagined body, which gives to consciousness the impression to be 'that'. The habit evolves to ascribe the identity 'I' to that. This 'I' then seems to be somewhere. (…)

Consciousness is not an object and cannot be imagined… it is what can imagine and distinguish. Consciousness is always the open and transparent Now. This Now is the totality of Being, which in a play of apparent forms is aware of Being. Identification with a form thought to be separate from the whole brings alienation and suffering.

This is like Light that takes itself to be a lamp. Through identification with a temporary form it forgets its origin of timeless Life. Characteristics are ascribed to the form, divided in good and bad ones. Being seems to get stuck in cramp through false imagination.

This cramp is ego. It is convinced to come from somewhere and to go to somewhere. The cramp is the believe given to the idea of birth and death, causing fear for the end of the form. This fear is also fear of Life, Love and Light.
